The production of 304 CR Steel Coil involves several steps:
Melting and Casting The raw materials are melted in an electric arc furnace or an AOD (Argon Oxygen Decarburization) converter, then cast into slabs and Hot Rolling The slabs are heated and passed through rollers to achieve a preliminary thickness and Cold Rolling The hot-rolled steel is further processed at room temperature to improve surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties. This step increases the steel's strength and hardness and Annealing The Cold Rolled Coil are annealed (heated and then slowly cooled) to relieve internal stresses and improve ductility and Pickling The annealed Coils undergo pickling to remove scale and impurities from the surface, enhancing corrosion resistance and Final Rolling and Finishing Additional rolling may be done to achieve the desired thickness and surface finish. The coils are then cut to size, inspected, and packaged for shipment.

Stainless steel strips are priced slightly higher than standard sizes stainless steel coils, as there are Slitting Coil and some overhead expenses added. Also, based on the slitting size, we also get an estimate of the scrap generation, and accordingly the price may be added to the base price of stainless steel coils, as above. To give you an indicative idea, strips are prices Rs. 7-10/kg higher, than stainless steel coils.
