Heat Treatment Objectives

Heat Treatment Processes


Normalizing is performed to refine the grain size and improve the uniformity of the microstructure.

  • Temperature: 900-950°C (1650-1740°F)
  • Cooling: Air cooling

Austenitizing is done to transform the steel's microstructure to austenite, which is necessary for subsequent treatments.

  • Temperature: 870-930°C (1600-1700°F)
  • Soaking Time: Sufficient to allow the entire section to reach a uniform temperature
